Signing up to newsletters ensures a steady stream of updates are hitting your inbox on a regular basis, often daily or weekly. 2. Use social listening tools
Social listening helps you to monitor conversations related directly to your industry, which means you can easily track trends and updates that are specific to your brand’s marketing activity. You can use third party tools like Pulsar, or set up Google Alerts and monitor hashtags to practice manual social listening.
3. Follow social media gurus
Sharpen your skills by paying attention to what the social media experts have to say. Whether it’s keeping up with platform changes through Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri, or getting the lowdown from industry analyst Matt Navarra, it’s a good idea to follow the gurus and turn on their post notifications.

4. Attend webinars and read reports
We know it’s important to stay up to date with the latest trends, but what about proactively planning for future ones? Companies like GWI and Pinterest who often share insights that predict consumer trends and behaviours, and how we as marketers can expect the social media landscape to change as a result.
These findings are usually disseminated as reports, and followed up with interactive webinars featuring keynote speakers and Q&A sessions.
